St Mary's Church is a beautiful church built in the latter half of the 13th century from ashlar and stone rubble. It has a crucifix design and can seat around 150 people for services.
The church was damaged by a fire in 1964, but was restored and re-hallowed the following year. We are celebrating the 60 year anniversary in December 2025.
St Mary's is a very popular church for baptisms and weddings due to its traditional feel and beautiful location.
The church is open daily for visitors and has several benches outside which are a great place to pause and reflect.
We meet for our Sunday services at 11am. We enjoy traditional worship with an organist playing hymns. This includes regular Holy Communion.
We also have seasonal services which include Candlelit Nine Lessions and Carols, Christingle Services, Midnight Communion, Holy Week Services and an annual Memoral Service. We are proud to support the 1st and 3rd Brough Brownies and enjoy when they are able to visit. Most recently we also met their pets at a Pet Blessing service in March 2025.
As well as our church services our community meet regularly for social events and often have a monthly pub lunch together.

St Mary’s benefits from having a church hall in close proximity (just across the churchyard) which is used for many of our social gatherings, as well as being available for hire.
The churchyard is now full for burials but we can accomodate new plots for cremated remains - for more information please click here.
